Private Pilot Certificate

Trade Winds Flight School's Private Pilot program is the foundation for anyone wanting to learn how to fly! This 3-4 week course will take a "zero time" student to being a fully certified pilot. Trade Winds Flight School is a family owned and operated flight school that tailors its schedule around the most important aspect of flight instruction -- THE STUDENT! We have been training students for over 28 years and we know that in order for a student to succeed, that student's needs must be met and they must be made comfortable in every aspect of their training. This holds true from accommodations all the way through the end of the check-ride. From day one, you will immediately feel at home at our flight school.

What to expect from your training:

  1. Individual training or buddy training - Its up to you!

  2. A relaxed atmosphere and a true sense of confidence.

  3. A fully beneficial yet relaxed training syllabus - Quality training at affordable prices. No phase checks, no gimmicks.

  4. FAA Designated Examiners - We use the same examiners "the big schools" use and we have a 95% first-time pass rate!

  5. High quality, safe aircraft - Click Here to take a look at our flight line!

The Private Pilot Certificate program consists of 40 hours of flight time; 20 hours of dual (instructed) flight time and 20 hours of solo flight time. The King Ground School is included in our program price which will get you through your written exam. We train you to not only be able to pass the practical test, but to safely fly a single engine airplane! There IS a difference! Books and Pilot Supplies will range anywhere from $150-$550, depending on your preferences. Housing/Accommodations is $300/week, or we can reference decent hotels in the area. Re: Multi Engine Training

Jason:

I want to express my appreciation for the quality flight instruction and manner which Trade Winds conducts business.

Most notably, Trade Winds was accommodating and flexible with my schedule and without exception, able to provide the aircraft and instructor when and as I requested. It was a pleasure to not be structured into a time "pro forma" that is so often a come-on to attract students.

The absolute skill level and knowledge you possess is apparent from the first lesson. Passing my check ride (the 1st time) was the tangible proof of your winning system.

Thank you again,

William B.

Peter Crouse of Vero Beach, FL:

In February of 2005 I interviewed 4 flight schools and 3 private instructors from Melbourne to Stuart in order to select a trainer to obtain my private pilot's rating. My first choice was easy and obvious: Trade Winds International in Ft Pierce.

From their FBO ad, I knew they had the qualified personnel and appropriate aircraft fleet. My decision was based on the people and the organization. This is a hands on, 24 and 7, family oriented operation. Ernie Carnahan, secretarial, and CFI staff are personable and flexible. The only pressure I felt was that which I put on myself. In 5 months, I had my ticket and trained at my own pace, by personal choice. They run their business with professional integrity.

The other benefits of TWI: one- on- one ground school with DVD's in their classroom; towered field training (one of my prerequisites); ample free parking; close proximity to aircraft and Avgas from their office; and, and excellent restaurant in their building.

For me, one of the important assets was their office environment. At the outset, I purchased my training materials and equipment form their pilot store. The office became my learning center because of the inter-action of the students and experienced pilots that transit through. That type of camaraderie is priceless! From that, I have developed some nice friendships.

So, I give TWI a 5 star rating and hope to do my IFR training with them in the future.

Jason Leonard of Jensen Beach, FL:

After several years of "pretending" to be a pilot, and jumping from one bankrupt flight school to the next I finally came upon Trade Winds. I was welcomed, treated fairly, and scheduled according to what I desired. I had the peace of mind knowing that BOTH my flight instructor AND the flight school would be there next month and for years to come.

Ernie had me finished in a matter of weeks which was perfect considering I could only fly a few days a week. From lesson one all the way through the end of my training, I had the one on one attention I truly desired. I didn't feel rushed, squeezed for time, or feel like I was in their way or worse, just another paycheck.

Trade Winds Flight School got me on my way to becoming a professional pilot. Not only did they train me, but they warmly welcomed me as a flight instructor. If you are looking to flight instruct before moving on to a regional airline, this is the place to be! Multi-engine aircraft and as many students as you want to handle with no pressure to take on more or less.

Clean airplanes that are continuously being detailed is a major plus. Not only that, the airplanes were always in good repair. I never had to complain about a problem more than once. It was obvious that each time something was inoperative or malfunctioning, they were doing it for the first time. Clyde and Alan, the maintenance gurus kept the airplanes in tip-top shape and in most cases, working better than the CRJ-200 I fly now.

That brings me up to my next plus to the school: Multi-engine programs (or is it multi engine??) that WORK for your career. Every time I hear someone get turned down at an interview, it isn't their total time, lack of IFR, etc. The thing the airlines want to see is PIC MULTI TIME!

I can't help but give the BEST report possible on Trade Winds Flight School since they were the best school I have come across in Florida.

THANK YOU FOR JUMPSTARTING MY CAREER!
