Private Pilot Multi-Engine Add-on

Trade Winds Flight School's Multi-Engine Add-on program adds multi-engine privileges to your existing Private or Commercial Pilot Certificate. This 7 day course provides 25 hours of flight training and the use of the aircraft for the checkride. For pilots who do not hold an instrument rating, this program will provide multi-engine privileges restricted to VFR. If you have your IFR, this will provide multi-engine privileges to IFR. Trade Winds Flight School is a family owned and operated flight school that tailors its schedule around the most important aspect of flight instruction -- THE STUDENT! We have been training students for over 30 years and we know what it takes for a student to be successful.

What to expect from your training:

  1. Individual training or buddy training - Its up to you!

  2. A relaxed atmosphere and a true sense of confidence.

  3. A regimented yet relaxed training syllabus - Quality training at affordable prices. No phase checks, no gimmicks.

  4. FAA Designated Examiners - We use the same examiners "the big schools" use and we have a 95% first-time pass rate!

About the Program:

During the first portion of training we determine your proficiency while piloting the aircraft. We will do normal maneuvers with instructor assistance while flying the Seneca. We will focus on getting you comfortable in the aircraft you are flying. Once we have determined your comfort level and proficiency, we will begin doing maneuvers that will be included in the Multi-Engine Private Pilot check ride. This will include steep turns and emergency single-engine operations. After you and your instructor feel comfortable, it will be time for your check ride. Before and after each flight we will discuss the factors involved in multi-engine flight including Vmc, a critical issue when flying a multi-engine airplane. This program will require work and diligence in many respects - both in the airplane, in the classroom, and at home. A great way to accomplish Flight Reviews!

The multi-engine syllabus we have written consists of 25 hours of flight time, depending on the selected program. The expected time to complete training is 7 days, depending on proficiency. There are 10 hours of ground instruction included in the program which will provide the knowledge needed to not only pass the exam, but to safely fly a multi-engine airplane. Books and Pilot Supplies will range anywhere from $50-$150, depending on your preferences. Housing/Accommodations is $300/week, or we can reference  hotels in the area.
